Evangelical Free Church Of America Colleges


The Swedish Evangelical Free Church and the Norwegian-Danish Evangelical Free Church Association merged in 1950 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to form the Evangelical Free Church of America (EFCA), an association of autonomous evangelical Christian congregations. The EFCA shares early ties with those who formed the Swedish Evangelical Covenant Church. It has been a member of the National Association of Evangelicals since 1943 (the year after the organization was formed.) The denomination has over 1,280 autonomous member congregations. This denomination maintains its headquarters in Minneapolis, Minnesota, with ministries in education, publications, camps, senior housing, children's homes, and camp facilities.

In the United States, the EFCA operates Trinity International University (commonly known as TIU), in Deerfield, Illinois. Created in 1897, TIU offers doctoral and professional degrees. Trinity International University Miami is one of the regional campuses of Trinity International University. The TIU-Miami campus was established in 1992 in close relationship with the Miami Christian College, offering bachelors and master’s degrees across many disciplines including business administration, psychology and elementary education. The center also offers certificate courses in Christian studies.
