Free Methodist Colleges
The Free Methodist Church is a Holiness Wesleyan Christian denomination with over 75,000 members in the United States in more than 900 congregations. (Globally, Free Methodist Church membership is greater than 800,000.) The Free Methodist Church World Ministries Center is located in Indianapolis, Indiana. Organized in 1860 in Pekin, New York, the movement spread quickly under the leadership of Benjamin Titus Roberts. The word "Free" was suggested and adopted because the new church was deemed an anti-slavery church, and because seats in the churches were to be free to all rather than sold or rented (as was common in the day.)
