Moravian Church Colleges

The Moravian Church in America is part of the global Moravian Church Unity dating back to the arrival of the first Moravian missionaries to the United States in 1735, from their Herrnhut settlement in present-day Saxony, Germany. The first Moravians to come to North America found a home in Pennsylvania, where the colony’s charter provided religious freedom. Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, which was originally founded as a Morovian community, became the northern church headquarters, and Winston-Salem, North Carolina, became the headquarters of the southern church. The Moravian denomination has congregations in 18 states.
