Seventh Day Adventists Colleges

The Seventh-day Adventist (abbreviated "Adventist") Church, formally established in 1863, is a Christian denomination distinguished by its observance of Saturday as the Sabbath. It is the largest of several "Adventist" groups which arose from the Second Great Awakening in the US in the 1840’s. This church is one of the world's fastest-growing organizations, due primarily to increases in membership in developing nations, making it one of the most widespread Protestant denominations with worldwide membership exceeding 17 million. The church operates numerous schools, hospitals and publishing houses globally, as well as a prominent humanitarian aid organization known as the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA).

Seventh Day Adventist Higher Education Overview

Colleges and universities affiliated with the Seventh Day Adventist are throughout the United States and offer Bachelor, Masters, Professional and Doctoral degrees. The largest affiliated institution, Loma Linda University in California, was established over 100 years ago. Loma Linda has over 100 study programs including those for healthcare, science, technology, and religion. The next largest school is Andrews University out of Michigan, which was founded over 130 years ago. Andrews' student body has a concentration of studies in religion and philosophy, architecture and planning, and therapy and counseling.
