United Church Of Christ Colleges

With more than one million members and over 5500 local congregations, the United Church of Christ (UCC) is a primarily US-based mainline Protestant Christian denomination, generally considered within the Reformed tradition. Formed in 1957, the UCC was an offshoot of the union of the Evangelical and Reformed Church and the Congregational Christian Churches. These churches in turn arose from the merger of various Protestant churches in the United States, whose roots go back to Switzerland, John Calvin, and the Protestant Reformation.

United Church of Christ Higher Education Overview

Located throughout the US, UCC colleges and universities have affirmed the purposes of the United Church of Christ Council for Higher Education by official action and are full members of the Council. Degrees offered at these schools include Bachelors, Masters, and Professional and Doctoral degrees. The largest of the schools, with more than five thousand students is Elon University (Elon, NC), which was founded in 1889. Elon has many of its students concentrating their studies in media, drama and performing arts, and nutrition and exercise therapy.
